Have you ever noticed that sometimes the hardest thing to handle isn’t when life is falling apart?
It’s when life starts going well.
The relationship gets serious—and we pull away. An opportunity finally appears—and we procrastinate. Life becomes peaceful—and somehow we create chaos. Recovery is going well—and we stop doing the things that helped us get there.
Then we wonder: Why did I do that?
Sometimes self-sabotage isn’t about wanting to destroy something good. It may be about returning to what feels familiar.
If you spent years living in chaos, you can become incredibly good at surviving it. But peace, stability, intimacy, success, and happiness can feel surprisingly unfamiliar.
At some point, recovery becomes about more than stopping destructive behaviors. It becomes about learning how to live a good life—and allowing ourselves to keep it.
TONIGHT — Wednesday, September 9th
Join us for a Recovered Life conversation about why we sabotage things when they’re finally going well.
5 PM Pacific • 7 PM Central • 8 PM Eastern
We’ll talk about relationships, opportunities, fear of success, comfort with chaos, and the ways we sometimes push away the very things we say we want.
Maybe the next stage of recovery isn’t fighting what’s wrong. Maybe it’s learning not to run from what’s right.
